Mission Statement

In July, 2005, The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center, Inc. created the Lucy-Desi Acquisitions Society to generate funds to care for and add significant Lucy-Desi artifacts to the Center’s collection as they become available. Through the generosity of the Founding Members of the Acquisitions Society, the Lucy-Desi Center now owns the famous prop cello that Lucy used in the vaudeville act she and Desi created to convince CBS that the American public would accept Desi as her television husband. This cello was also a prop in the pilot for “I Love Lucy” and again in episode #6, “The Audition”. The cello is on exhibit in the Desilu Playhouse, along with a sign recognizing the founding members of the Acquisitions Society who made acquiring it possible.

You can become a member of the Acquisitions Society with a designated gift of $2500. This will add your name to those listed below who recognize the importance of adding to and preserving the wonderful artifacts entrusted to the care of the Lucy-Desi Center.
